Worcestershire Conservatives remain focused on building a sustainable fostering community that delivers better outcomes for children and value for money for residents.
That's the commitment of Conservative Group Leader on Worcestershire County Council, Cllr Adam Kent, as he defended the record of the previous Conservative administration which did a huge amount to improve fostering in the county.
A comprehensive Foster Care Recruitment and Retention Plan was implemented under the previous Conservative administration and led to a 21% increase in fostering enquiries.
Cllr Adam Kent, County Councillor for Wythall, said:
“Fostering isn’t fixed with soundbites - it takes investment, persistence, and a real commitment to carers and children.
“That’s exactly what we are delivering in Worcestershire. I’m even running the London Marathon next year to raise awareness of fostering, because I know how vital it is for children to grow up in safe, loving family homes.”
Cllr Kent has criticised the Reform administration's decision to scrap the County Council's Worcestershire Magazine which was delivered to every home in the county and led to an increase in fostering enquiries.
Scrapping the magazine "has cut one of the most cost-effective tools for attracting new carers - a false economy when recruiting just a few more foster carers would save millions and improve lives," Cllr Kent added.
