The Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, James Cleverly MP, visited Wythall yesterday (April 7th) as Bradley Thomas MP continues his campaign to save Bromsgrove and the Villages' greenbelt.
Following the visit, Bradley said:
"Our greenbelt is under threat all in the name of the Government’s flawed housing target for Bromsgrove and the Villages.
"Developers are emboldened by Government policy and their absurd ‘grey belt’ definition which Ministers can’t even define what it actually means. This madness has to stop.
"Yesterday, Cllr Adam Kent and I brought the Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, James Cleverly, to meet with residents.
"James saw for himself the barrage of speculative housing applications facing Wythall and the impact it will have on communities. With no promised investment in infrastructure, Wythall simply won’t be able to cope.
"This situation is replicated across our constituency following the Government’s 85% increase in our housebuilding target and their reduction of Birmingham’s target by over 30%.
"The next Conservative government will scrap the so-called ‘grey belt’, protect our greenbelt, build on brownfield land first and in our cities where the need is greater."
