Bromsgrove Conservatives have announced that experienced Councillor Matt Dormer has been selected as their candidate to fight the Bromsgrove South by-election.
The by-election, which will take place on Thursday October 30th, has been called following the resignation of the Reform UK County Councillor.
Worcestershire born and bred, local businessman Matt Dormer will be standing as the Conservative candidate in the by-election to become the County Councillor for Bromsgrove South.
Matt Dormer is an experienced Councillor, having been Leader of Redditch Borough Council and having served as a County Councillor for 4 years.
As well as running a successful family business and serving as a local Councillor, Matt was also a retained firefighter for 28 years.
If elected, Matt will fight to protect the greenbelt against the Labour Government’s 85% increase in Bromsgrove and the Village’s housebuilding target.
He will ensure the A38 BREP scheme keeps Bromsgrove moving and delivers on the promises made by Worcestershire County Council.
And Matt will fight for investment in local infrastructure.
Matt Dormer said:
“I’m honoured to have been selected as the Conservative candidate for the Bromsgrove South by-election.
“Residents have been massively let down by their Reform County Councillor and since May they’ve not had the representation they deserve. Residents deserve better.
“I promise to be a strong voice for local residents by fighting to protect our precious greenbelt, ensuring the A38 BREP scheme delivers on the County Council’s promises, and ensuring we keep Worcestershire together.
“I have the experience needed to hit the ground running from day one and I would be humbled and honoured if residents placed their trust in me to be their voice on Worcestershire County Council.”
Bradley Thomas MP added:
“Matt is an extremely experienced Councillor who knows how to get stuff done.
“The residents of Bromsgrove South deserve a strong local voice - and that’s Matt. Born and bred in Worcestershire, Matt understands our rural identity and the challenges facing our town.
“I couldn’t think of anyone better to be the next County Councillor for Bromsgrove South.”
