Bradley Thomas MP has welcomed the drainage and surface improvement works taking place at Alvechurch Train Station car park.
Back in January the local MP visited the car park to meet with Joceline Whittaker, who runs Alvechurch and Bordesley Nursery School, to discuss the impact the car park flooding is having on her nursery.
The nursery is accessed via the train station car park, and with regular flooding, it puts the safety of the nursery children at risk.
Although some of the holes in the car park were filled with 40 tonnes of stone to even out the surface in October 2024, this has done nothing to stop the flooding as the soakaways struggle to cope during periods of heavy rainfall.
Bradley promised he would do everything he could to help. To find a long-lasting solution to the problem, Bradley brought together Network Rail and West Midlands Trains in April.
Following this meeting, Network Rail confirmed they had found an "innovative solution" which will hopefully end the long-running flooding saga once and for all. This drainage and surface improvement work began on Friday (June 27th).
Bradley said:
